It all started a week before the release of ‘Sivaji’. I got 5 tickets booked for my family. When I told my parents about the tickets, they were very thrilled. My dad went and got a new shirt stiched, my mom visited Nally’s and picked up a ‘Pattu Podavai’ (Silk Sari) for D-DAY!. When my colleagues got to know that I booked Sivaji tickets a week in advance they started to tease me… and I blushed like a newly wed girl who is about to get laid for the 1st time.

And then finally it was D-Day… 19th June 2007. The Iyengar family geared up to witness ‘Sivaji’. I left work early. Like all bosses I told my team that I have some important meeting to attend… while they slogged their asses to deliver our product and meet the target, I was @ PVR – Nirmal Lifestyle with my family for the ultimate.

My mom was looking stunning in her new pattu-podavai (Silk Sari), dad was in his brand new stitched shirt, Wife was not too enthusiastic as it was a Tamil film and she is ‘Mee Marathi’… nevertheless she agreed to watch the film as Rajini Kanth is ‘Mee Marathi’ too, the lil irritating boy was confused to see his Tata-paati (grand-pa –n- grand-ma) go hysterical. But he gave a F*&@ about ‘Sivaji’ or Rajini… All he wanted was a continuous inflow of Popcorns, Coke and Samosas… and which he knew will happen coz none of the madrasis would want to get disturbed while watching ‘Sivaji’ so by default there will be loads of popcorns, Coke and Samosas to keep his mouth shut.

@PVR there were several Madrasi families similar to ours… One tamil maami was soo excited that she didn’t notice a cable lying on the floor and tripped over it…The most happiest person was my dad as he got the opportunity to help her… She was fragile and not attractive… however, my dad felt she’s different….variety is the spice of his life (may be)… And this act of my dad irritated her husband beyond limits.

Now coming to the actual movie…

Cooool…. That’s how I will describe this film. However, it is an over-hyped product. Rajini is too cool and the movie is a complete paisa vasool. Anands’ camera work was phenomenal, performance wise… Rajini…I don’t have the right to comment on his work.. he is simply TOOO COOOOOL.. Vivek is fabulous.. I loved the girls.. the girl who gyrated with Rajini in the 1st reel and the heroine too…good body. Thotta’s art direction was amazing. Costumes were sober and nice thank you Manish (Malhotra) and Neeta (Lulla).

I am proud of the director – Shankar… he had used an Apple laptop in the movie. And thanks to the dialogue writer for writing too many English lines for Rajini. Viz.

I WAAS KAARNERED(read cornered).. I WAAS HELLPLESS.
I had filled a Zillion farms (read forms)
It waas a kho-incidence dammit!And… the oft-repeated ‘COOOOOL’…
Another important prop in the movie was the IBM laptop which RK used to store all important info which had voice recognition software and it operated only when RK said… “I am Sivaji buddy!! COOOOL”

RK ROCKS! MADRASIS ROCK… MAHARASHTRIANS ARE TOO COOL!

MEE MARATHI. Maajhi Baaiko Marathi.

JAI MAHARASHTRA!
